Hurricane season is here

Remember that precaution is the best safety plan

On June 1st the beginning of hurricane season was officially announced and it will affect the city of Miami. Experience proves that precaution is the best protection method, and that is why we should be prepared and ready for any eventuality.

The National Oceanic & Atmospheric Administration (NOOA) confirmed that they are expecting from 10 to 16 tropical storms, and 4 to 8 of them may result in hurricanes.

Here aresome helpful hints so all our students and members of San Ignacio College can be prepared for this hurricane season:

  • Create an action plan. Design an escape plan in case of an emergency.
  • Shelters. Locate public shelters available in your community.
  • Provisions. Have plenty of water bottles and non-perishable food.
  • Emergency kit. Have a first aid kit available for use.
  • Keep all your personal documents safe and handy. Find a safe place for all your important papers, so they don’t get ruin by the storm and you are able to find them quickly.
  • Emergency supplies. Stock up on batteries, flashlights, toiletries, and a portable radio at hand.

From now on, stay tune and pay attention to weather updates from the meteorological centers. Remember that precaution is the best safety plan.
